Para ingresar al Perú, todos los viajeros mayores de 12 años necesitan una cartilla de vacunación con las dosis requeridas completadas antes o deben presentar una prueba PCR negativa con fecha de resultado no mayor a 48 horas antes de abordar en su punto de origen. Todos los viajeros mayores de 40 años necesitan la tercera dosis para ingresar a Perú. En algunas regiones el uso de la mascarilla facial es opcional en espacios públicos.

Requisitos para viajar a Perú
- Para ingresar al Perú, todos los viajeros mayores de 12 años necesitan una cartilla de vacunación con las dosis requeridas completadas o deben presentar una prueba PCR negativa con fecha de resultado no mayor a 48 horas antes de abordar en su punto de origen. Todos los viajeros mayores de 40 años necesitan la tercera dosis para ingresar a Perú.
- Es obligatorio usar una mascarilla KN-95 o doble mascarilla en espacios cerrados.
- Para vuelos domésticos y viajes terrestres interprovinciales, todos los pasajeros mayores de 12 años necesitan las dosis requeridas y el refuerzo para mayores de 18 años residentes en Perú y que estén habilitados para recibirlo. De lo contrario, se requiere una prueba de PCR negativa con una antigüedad máxima de 48 horas antes del embarque.
- Es obligatorio presentar la cartilla de vacunación antes de entrar a espacios cerrados, como restaurantes, cafés o centros comerciales.
- El uso de mascarillas en espacios abiertos es opcional en las regiones con 80% de cobertura de vacunación contra el COVID-19 de personas de 60 años y más y con 3 dosis y 80% de cobertura de vacunación contra el COVID-19 de personas de 12 años y más y con 2 dosis
- Para ciudadanos estadounidenses: ya no se necesita prueba COVID-19 para ingresar a EEUU.

Requisitos para ingresar a Perú
Si planeas venir al país de los incas, debes asegurarte que cumples con las siguientes requisitos para viajar a Perú.

Necesitarás otra prueba Covid si viajas a un país que requiere un resultado negativo para ingresar.

Qué hacer si tienes síntomas de COVID-19 o si tu prueba sale positiva?
- Evita viajar más hasta que te sientas mejor y hasta que obtengas un resultado negativo.
- Haz cuarentena, evita cualquier contacto con otras personas y no salgas.
- Sigue las instrucciones de las autoridades locales.
- Llama a tu seguro de viaje y averigua qué médico deberías visitar.
- Saca una cita con el médico y sigue sus consejos.
- Llama a tu agente de viaje para hacer los cambios necesarios o posponer tu reserva.
- Evita seguir viajando hasta que te sientas mejor y que tu prueba salga negativa.
En caso de síntomas, el Ministerio de Salud de Perú (MINSA) recomienda llamar al número gratuito de emergencias 113, enviar un mensaje de WhatsApp al (+51) 952-842-623 o un correo electrónico a infosalud@minsa.gob.pe. Sin embargo, es muy probable que solo recibas una respuesta en español.

I am 32 years old and live in the US. I am traveling to Peru in 2-weeks and only have the J&J vaccine. Will this be an issue when traveling from the US to lima and lima to Cusco?

Hey Katie! According to the government «Individuals arriving in Peru who are 12 years of age or older must present proof of at least two doses of a recognized COVID-19 vaccine prior to boarding at their point of origin.» I entered Peru from the US 2 weeks ago and I was not asked to show my proof of vaccination at the airport; however, this might depend. If you do not want to get a second shot, you could just get a COVID test as a backup in case Migrations ask you for it.

soon I will travel to Peru and I am a little confused of the Corona vaccination rules. I have got only two doses last year (7/2021). Is it enough or do I need the booster to enter Peru and to enter restaurants there etc.?

Hey Laura, how are you doing? Officially, you also need the booster in order to enter Peru. We’ve heard from travelers that entered the country with only 2 doses but in order to avoid any inconveniences best would be to have all 3 vaccinations. Hope this helps 🙂

I noticed that as of 5/31/22 you need a negative covid test within 24 hours of travel in order to be able to leave from Peru to the US. Most of the PCR tests take 24 hours+ in order to result, however. Am I missing something? are the antigen tests sufficient?
Additionally, are there companies/clinics that we could contact in order to have someone come into the hotel we are staying in Cusco?

Hey Agnieszka! If the US requires a negative PCR test to enter the country, you can get one in Cusco at Cima clinic. They’re quite fast and they come to your hotel to do the test. You should have the result for the PCR test within a couple of hours (last time we used their service it took them 4-5 hours). Hope this helps! 🙂

Hey Yessika, the restrictions are mostly the same as to entering the country. If you’re not vaccinated, you need to show a negative COVID test (in most cases a PCR test is required, but best would be to check with each hotel individually). Hope this helps 🙂

Hey Jane! This depends on your age. If you’re under 40 you’re fine with 2 doses, if you’re over 40 you’d need a booster to enter Peru. Hope this helps!

thanks a lot for your message. You are allowed to enter Peru as with J&J you are 100% vaccinated.
BUT in case you are older than 40 years than you’ll need the 3rd vaccine.

Hey Janissa! You need to show a proof of vaccination or a negtive PCR test in order to board the train to Machu Picchu. For the other day trips in Cusco you don’t need any of these, except that the travel agency demands any of this. Hope this helps 🙂

What if you are not vaccinated, but you have recovered from Covid recently. Can you travel around Peru with proof of recovery (from the EU)? Think of taking busses & going on tours, but also going into restaurants & bars or other public places.
I want to travel Peru around April/May, do you think the restrictions for unvaccinated will be gone by then?

Glad you liked the info, thank you! If you’re not vaccinated you can enter Peru with a negative PCR test no older than 72h before traveling. However, in order to travel within Peru (plane & bus) and to go out (restaurants, bars etc.), a complete proof of vaccination (virtually or physically) is required.
It’s difficult to predict whether restrictions for unvaccinated people will be gone by then but if I had to make a guess I’d say that it will take longer than that. Hope that helps ad if you have any other questions feel free to shoot us a mail at info@exploor.pe 🙂

Hey Lizalu! You have to isolate yourself and be in quarantine until you’re negative. Only then can you leave the country. It’s not allowed to travel when you still have COVID.

unvaccinated travelers need a negative PCR test that is not older than 72 hours to enter the country.
During your time in Peru you’ll have to take on regular basis a PCR test to be able to enter busses or other transports.
