Route 3-A: Huayna Picchu Route
This route includes a visit to the lower part of the New Wonder of the World plus an exciting climb of Huayna Picchu with steep paths and high cliffs. The Huayna Picchu hike will offer you spectacular views of the ruins and the surrounding landscapes.
The Temple of the Moon and the panoramic views from the top, which offer an amazing perspective of Machu Picchu and the surrounding landscapes, are among the highlights.
Duration of the route: 3.5 hours.
Things to Know:
- Includes a hike to Huayna Picchu.
- It is not possible to visit the upper part from where you get the postcard-like picture.
- Maximum stay time of 6 hours.
Route 3-B: Designed Route
The Designed Route, or Route 3-B, offers an easy tour of Machu Picchu’s lower parts and lots of opportunities for pictures among the historic ruins.
As this route is less demanding, it’s perfect for seniors and those of you looking for a more easy exploration experience that doesn’t compromise on taking in Machu Picchu’s breathtaking scenery and rich history.

Route 3-C: Great Cavern Route (High Season Only)
During Machu Picchu’s peak season from June 1st to October 15th and from December 30th to 31st, 2024, Route 3-C, also known as the Great Cavern Route, provides an unforgettable trip. This itinerary includes a visit to the Great Cavern (Gran Caverna), which offers a unique and less crowded viewpoint of the site.

The Huchuy Picchu Route, or Route 3-D, is a rewarding hike that is accessible during the peak hiking season only from June 1st to October 15th and from December 30th to 31st, 2024. This path leads you to the peak of Huchuy Picchu Mountain, which provides vast views of Machu Picchu and the surroundings.
Huchuy Picchu offers a more tranquil experience than Huayna Picchu, as it’s less popular and easier. If you are moderately fit and looking for an equally breathtaking but less crowded experience, then this is a great choice for you.
