Overview
The capital of Peru, Lima, is located on the central coast of Peru, along the Pacific Ocean.
Weather: During the year, temperatures in Lima rarely rise above 29°C (84°F) or fall below 12°C (54°F), indicating a mild desert environment. It hardly rains, but if it does, most of the precipitation in the city, known as gara, falls between June and September. Especially in winter, the city is known as “Lima la Gris” because of its cloudy and overcast weather.
Altitude: Lima is located at 154 m (505 feet) above sea level.

- Lima to Cusco 1:20 h by plane (20-24 h by bus)
- Lima to Arequipa 1:30 h by plane (16-18 h by bus)
- Lima to Iquitos 2:30 h by plane (only option)
- Lima to Puno 45 – 60 min by plane (6 – 8 h by bus)
- Lima to Puerto Maldonado 45 – 60 min by plane (9 – 10 h by bus)
